When I got a Phase 90 about a year ago I found it way too gainy and the effect to be overbearing. I learned about the R28 mod and completed it successfully.

Today I found out there's an internal trimpot that essentially adjusts the effects depth and almost acts like a blend pot.

I was able to measure appropriately and drill the casing so that I can now adjust it for different situations with far more ease than continually opening up the pedal to do so.

Simple I know, but I'm pretty happy~

I thought about making that trim pot accessable on my DIY too. Then I realized how finicky that thing is. Nopey way too much temptation to screw around and mess up some Mojo I may find and never find it again.

just put a mark on it and you can always go back to it. i had no reason to mark mine because it sounded like ass. now it's really subtle and far more useable to me. basically, it's for outlaw country style stuff on my board. it's my "Waylon" mod :wink:
 
Very cool. I use mine only for classic country, too. Perhaps I should look into this one.

i'd recommend it. used it for the first time today at rehearsal and it's way more useful. so much more subtle. before it was almost like a joke effect it was so strong.
 
Excellent. I'll probably start by just opening it up and snipping the R28. If that doesn't do 'er, I'll look into drilling.

I have been thinking of getting a kit for my Blues Driver. I do not like the stock pedal at all. Way to much top end are very 'brittle' sounding - for lack of a better term. But a better low gain drive pedal is at least $100.00 (minus what I can sell the BD for). Kits are less money. And hearing success stories like yours it encourages me to try it out. The kits are about $20.00...

unless i'm playing strict old country, that blues driver is pretty much always on for the light od/Paisley'esque/Eddie Shaver twang. that with a little slapback and maybe some compression at lower volumes is FUN to play.
