maple necks on a new guitar... common to get dirty?

So I'm digging my charvel so far. I noticed after 45 min of playing(over 2 days) the fretboard was already getting dirty. I took some naptha to it and it cleaned it right up.

My strats never had this problem, but my Jackson PC1 and peavey wolfgangs had this problem.

Is it the strings? Should I change them? or something else? My hands are pretty clean when I play. I wash them beforehand.
 
Is the neck unfinished?

It could be the strings. I just changed mine because every time I played, my fingers were dirty after playing it. Now they are fine.
 
Strings the guitar came with?

I always change strings right away on a new ax.

You might want to do that, and wipe the fingerboard and frets down while you have the strings off.

i normally do that... but i haven't had the time
 
I sm starting to see a pattern

1. HNGD for Mystix
2. Mystix is super enthusiastic
3. Mystix asks question about some insignificant thing that bothers him about new guitar
4. Silence....
5. Mystix sells another previously bought guitar he couldn't bond with (for which he went through same above process)
6. Rinse and repeat

I like necks that are oil finished. Peavey finished the Wolfgangs with lemon oil. EBMM uses a mixture of gunstock oil and wax. I've used tung oil, too. Gives you that unfinished feel with a good seal.

Then again, I have very dry hands. It's more likely I absorb oil from my necks than I deposit sweat and grime. My Wolfgang is 10+ years old, played often, and the neck is barely turning darker.
