Anybody know anything about portable bluetooth speakers?

I've got a couple gift cards left over from Christmas I'd like to put towards one. Not looking to spend more than 150ish. I was thinking either Bose Soundlink or JBL Charge 2+. The water resistant coating on the JBL seems like it would come in handy. Any thing else I should check out? Any recommendations welcome.

I'll probably be going to Best Buy at lunch, so hurry up! please

I've wanted one for over 6 months. I'd kind of already narrowed it down to the two mentioned in the OP because I've heard them both and think they both sound good. This thread is me checking the specs against the rest of the market using the power of weiners.

All I know is the the soundlink sounded nowhere near the Sony SRX S3 I got given to me. I mean night and day, I was really hoping for the Bose to sound good too as a onetime happy owner of some 301's. Just didn't happen.

Tested them with the same source btw. In case you wonder.

The sony sounded great. I think the best sounding one was the UE Boom, but it was hard to tell in the store. It was also fully waterproof. At 179, it was a little more expensive. Since I don't see quality being the most important factor, this will be used in less than ideal settings, I went with the JBL. It was a little cheaper and is water resistant, which isn't as ideal, but I still think it will be a handy feature for the beach or hiking. The biggest selling points for me though, were it has an aux input and can recharge other devices, which I think will be very useful feature.

i got some iHome bluetooth speakers several years ago. sound fine, rugged as hell, and i think they cost me $40. battery life is very good between charges too. also has an aux in which comes in handy for my old ipod

that vagina one sounds pretty awesome. I'm guessing it's water resistant as well.

edit: my bad, I think it's not bluetooth. it should be!

You had me at "using the power of weiners".

I might need something like this to use with my laptop when I'm not at work.

On the last cruise we were on, someone had a pair of UE mini booms (they'll pair up for stereo), and they sounded awesome. At first, I refused to believe that much sound was coming from such a small package - I thought he was pulling my leg.

They are a bit pricey, but I will own a pair eventually.

My buddy has one of the Bose ones and it sounds good, is simple to use and the battery life it good.
