Life is too short...

Modern Saint

Starve your Fear, Feed your Dream!
I posted this to my FB page because I know that time is short. Currently I try to get out and play as much as I can, more so than I did when was playing full time. Kind of hard to do but yeah, it is true. Anyway sadly a friend who I haven't seen for since 1989 passed today. He had Stage 4 cancer and we were hoping that one day soon, we would get together and jam some. He was a bassist that I met at Musicians Institute and gave me a few rides home when I was going to the school. Such a free spirit that he was who worked for Taylor Guitars up until his health deteriorated. Sadly I never met up with him other than on Facebook. So while other find FB useless, I have found it a great way to reconnect with some of my music buddies from the past.

Anyway if you get a chance to get out and play, do eet! Life is too short to be saying: Shouda, Coulda, Woulda. Just do it - WEINERVILLE!!!!

"Shouda, coulda woulda..."

Once had a sports coach tell me, "The saddest words to say is I wish I could have..."

Sorry about your friend. Cancer sucks

Sorry for your loss Randy.

Facebook and other social media are not replacement for actually contacting someone and getting out and playing. As you said yourself, you connected on facebook but didn't pursue it further.

Pick up the phone and actually contact people. Make plans, and keep them.

T0o true. I limit myself with the DJing because it's a job and I don't want to be out 2-3 times a week but there's something magical about playing live music with others.

I was guitar shopping today in the only mom and pop shop around. The owners son largely runs the place now and our bands used to do a lot of shared bill gigs together 15ish years ago when we were both gunning for the big time. We both were actually really fucking good - theirs more so plus they didn't have a female singer to Yoko the whole endeavour :embarrassed: - I'm going back in a day or two to buy the guitar I liked and I'm going to ask him and the other guy from the band if they want to get together for a jam with my brother (who played with my band at the time)

Just sitting their noodling about today and talking to them brought back a tonne of memories and I could still play a couple of their tunes
