I still don't get it
(I'm not from the US, if it wasn't clear)

Every year christians throw a fit if starbucks doesn't put their overpriced swill into red cups emblazoned with xtian symbolism. Starbucks ceo goes on record as being anti trump. trump-ettes decide that to protest the evil anti god baristas, they will 'make' them call out trumps name hundreds of times per day.

So, smartassed protestors spend more money to protest a non issue. Starbucks wins.

this is apparently the cup that pissed them off this year...

the horror

If I worked there (*shudders at the thought*) I would say "Trump? You're not the Donald" look around like I'm searching for the Cheeto-messiah and then pour the cup out right in front of them saying "hmmm, he must have left the building". If they say anything, ask them for their ID.

Close, but not quite. It wasn't Christians throwing a fit, it was just the usual folks that aren't happy without something to complain about.

Starbucks has never had Christian symbolism on their cups, it's always been the more general winter theme like @bsman posted up there^^. The complainers didn't like it last year when there was nothing but a plain red cup instead of something more holiday-ish, and this year it was because of that single line artwork. Starbucks quickly pointed out that the green artistic cup was not their holiday cup, but that didn't stop folks from complaining. Everybody knows someone like that...don't we? I mean, it's a f'n cup! Drink your f'n coffee and throw it in the trash like the rest of us.

Maybe not all, but quite a few wanted the cups to reference christmas specifically, so they did the same 'trump' trick last year but gave their name as Merry Christmas to 'force' baristas to yell it out. This year, same people, same tactic, different name.
