Kemper transition is underway

Well, I took the plunge and ordered a Kemper profiler head and floorboard, plus a set of Yamaha HS8 powered monitors and some monitor stands.

Kemper and floorboard arrived today. I haven’t touched the floorboard, but I plugged in the Kemper and tested out some presets with a pair of decent over ear AKG K72 headphones. Speakers will not arrive until next week sometime. Anyway, I just plugged in my strat plus with lace sensors and ran through some presets. All I can say is WOW. WHERE HAS THIS THING BEEN ALL MY LIFE? The tones that this box can create are amazing. I turned off the reverb/delay and stuff on some patches and really listened to the sounds and feel, especially focusing on amps I have owned. This thing really captures the raw sound of the amps it has stored inside. The cleans and mid gain stuff was amazing, and the rock stuff was great. There are too many high gain shred presets, but even those sounded really good. I am stunned at how good this sounds, and these are the factory presets. I can't wait to get some really good profiles in there and see what it can do. Manual and menus seem logical enough, although I haven't really tried to do too much yet. Tomorrow I will read the manual and stuff.

Pictures are of the boxes with my helper, Daisy, opening them, and the Evil Toaster on my desktop. I can't wait for the speakers to arrive.

dibs on the band name Evil Toaster.

I think I would have to hire someone to operate that thing for me. I bet it sounds awesome though.

I just had another 30 min session playing around with a blackface deluxe preset and adding in reverb, delay, compression, and some dirt. I tried a couple different parameters on each and was able to get some really amazing stuff. Stunning how fucking good this thing can do a clean fender. All the sparkle is there, all the depth and the spank. It is indistinguishable from the real thing, at least to my ears.

I really want an Evil Toaster..... but there were several pieces of gear (including the Tech 21 NYC RK5 v2) that will probably postpone my purchase for a while.

... and maybe something else.

Tracking number on the speakers tells me Tuesday is delivery day. Tomorrow's goal is to get the floor board hooked up, figure out some programming, and get some profiles I've been looking at.

Welcome to the club!

In all seriousness, over the years I've tried a shitoad of the modelling pedalboards and plugins and the Kemper is the only thing that actually FEELS like playing an actual amp. And you can put a pedal or 5 in front of it and it doesn't actually crap out. Since I got mine I've sold 2 amps which basically paid for it. :embarrassed:

I also got one of these in the mail today, but I'm not sure what to do with it yet.

If you can hook it up to individual parameters on the effects, it can be loads of fun. Hooking it to the repeats on delays is awesome.

If you can hook it up to control the delay timing you could have Tom Scholtz's "hyperspace" pedal!

First of all... Daisy rules!

Can't wait to hear what you think it sounds like through speakers... through headphones it should sound pretty much perfect, but that's cheating.
