Joyo Quattro delay... strange behavior

cvogue

Yes, that's Oolong. :)
So I thought I'd try my little Joyo Quattro delay in front of my amp as a little ambient delay, pseudo reverb sound. It worked OK, but I actually had it off most of the time.

Then, I realized when I had my guitar volume all the way down I got an annoying high pitched oscillation going on. The pedal was off... the strange sound was (obviously) much worse on the dirty channel than the clean but even on the clean it was still there.

If I turned up my guitar volume just a bit it went away.

Anyone seen this? I was worried that it was my guitar but I took the Joyo out of the equation and things went back to normal.

That’s Joyo for you. I had a delay from them, and that same thing happened. It started like that and in a few weeks, when you turned it on, nothing but a super loud shriek. Now that you mention it, it was probably a super fast oscillation.

Ahh, bummer, man I've hardly used the thing. Sounded great while it lasted... and, it was cheap! Will have to try it at home as well. Maybe it doesn't like my main rig.

I used mine maybe half a dozen times before it died. Hopefully yours was just an anomaly and it works again. I had 2 die, the delay and the analog chorus. The chorus just stopped working, the delay died a screaming death

That sucks. Mine has been bulletproof for 2 years now and I freaking love it. It may very well be the power supply... try a different source before you condemn the pedal.

More pedals than the Tour De France

I think you're onto something OGG... the power supply I use in my main board is not the best, one of the cheapo Donner supplies (Voodoo Labs wannabe) Works fine for the other pedals but the Joyo didn't like it. I went back to a little Boss wall wart at home and it was fine. Might just be picky about the power.

Makes me think I may want to upgrade my power supply in my board, wonder what other adverse effects the cheaper supply may be having...

Cheap Chinese shit doesn't work well. Who knew?

Seemed to work well enough... but maybe not. Still, I'd rather have the Donner than the previous situation (power strip on the board with a big Daisy chain)

Might have to try batteries and if that makes a big difference I may sprung for a Voodoo Labs

Sometimes I'm more than just a pretty face.
