Jack E Martling wounds Sweetwater.

i ordered 3 packs of strings from them and they took a week to get here. when the package finally arrived, it was a book box. they had put a catalog in the box, and it weighed more than the pack of strings. between the cut margin on the actual item, the cost of printing, and shipping it to me, they lost money on my order. i got a call from my rep the next week and told him not to send me any more catalogs. i don't need em and it's silly to send them along with accessories.

I'll admit, I used Sweetwater. They had a foot pedal for my Super Champ XD I needed, @ $5 less than MF. I would have ordered from SW, but when I called to do so, they were out of stock, so I didn't. Took their price to MF, which had it in stock, and price-matched.

That's my only Sweetwater story.

C-, lacks drama.

Nice. I've only bought one thing from them (a recording interface) and I got really tired of the rep calling me. I usually use AMS myself..

I think AMS is fast becoming my retailer of choice as well. I've only ordered 2 things from them, but both times they arrived the next day with standard shipping. Apparently they have a warehouse very close to me. I think the shipping tag said it was sent from New Jersey.

Other than that, it was a very nondescript transaction. Same price as everybody else. No follow up calls, no backorders, no automatic email list that I have to unsubscribe from, goods were well packed and not damaged in shipping, no monkeying around whatsoever. They just took my money and delivered the item I wanted.

Strange how simply doing that makes you better than the competition.

Would Sweetwater bother me if I just drove to their store and bought something? I only live an hour+ drive away.

If I was buying something like a guitar or amp, I'd just drive there :embarrassed:

I like them. I bought a guitar case for a particular guitar that was $120-130 everywhere else and it was $75 at Sweetwater.

I was told it was supposed to show up within a week but it showed up the next day.

No complaints. Although it's a bit odd for their customer service guys to call periodically to ask if I want anything.

Yes, I want EVERYTHING but I just can't afford it. It was tax time after all not that long ago.

I got my sales guy to never call me unless he's following up to make sure I've received something. I told him I'm busy and if there's anything I need to get I'll email him and he'll be the 1st to know. Hasn't called me in nearly a year, although he did email me about my busted studio monitor to let me know they have received it.

juststrings is where I get my Steinberger double-ball strings from. I can't find any one around here that stocks the La Bella double-balls, and those are the best.

The strings I use would be impossible to find in a store. I use 011-53 or 011-059's.

One thing nice about SW are the guitar pics, and the fact that when they have mulitples you can often check each unit to see which looks best and order THAT one. That is cool, but I'm sure too time consuming for most outfits ...
