It's Tuesday night so...

:thu:

Steak and red wine is such a classic combo. We do it almost once per weekend.

No fava beans and a nice chianti, however

Really unimpressed by them. For the price, and granted, nice art and marketing, lackluster beers. They seem to be the "new" stone. However, the imperial porter is very good.

Agreed. I'm not as big a fan of these either and I'm an IPA guy through and through. My favorite regular IPAs are Hop Devil, Titan, DogfishHead 60min, Southern Tier and Dale's Pale Ale (< best beer to ever come out of a can). Now I much prefer a double IPA and for that my fav over anything is Breckenridge's 741 Small Batch. 2nd is Victory's Hop Wallop. 3rd is DogfishHead's 90min.

Stone's beers are good but damn they are overpriced for what you get. There are just as good ales out there for far less coin.

I'm too am a IPA nut, 80% of what I drink. Luckily I live in Nor Cal, which is IPA mecca. Stone's problem is consistency. They don't have enough of it. Arrogant Bastard, their biggest seller, is completely inconsistent, and it's not an age thing. The Ruination is great, but not as great as they and their fans want you to think it is. Great marketers though, and one of the early pioneers of the reinvention of brewing on the west coast, I respect them for that, but don't like them as a whole.

Lagunitas is my favorite brewery. Most of their stuff is hop heavy, and unique. They do a ton of specialty brews on top of their usual stuff. Hop Stoopid is number one in my book in DIPA for price, availability, consistency and quality. Interesting mouthfeel, thinner than most and less carbonated. I don't think I've had a bad brew from them. Bear Republic is great too, they really need to bottle more than three beers though. Racer 5 is awesome, relatively cheap in bombers, great beer.

Dale's Pale Ale (< best beer to ever come out of a can)

Oskar Blues lineup in general is great but you've gotta try Try Heady Topper sometime; bombdiggity

The only problem with stone is they've been around for a long time and distribute everywhere. In the craft beer scene, familiarity like that definitely breeds contempt.

I may just have to have a Tuesday night here in a few hours. What an EFF'ed up work day, er, night it has been.
I'll be home in time for a teleconference at 7:30 AM, which is a great time to imbibe a little.

hmmmm...

My Tuesday night is Wednesday night, we always meet another couple for texican food and margaritas.

Last night though I was a good boy, I only had two non-alcoholic beverages (Michelob Ultra).

*pats self on back*

Dropped by the local Spec's and bought a bottle of Buffalo Trace. It has been almost a year since I had some, tasting all kinds of scotch, rye and bourbon along the way. Now that my tastes buds have a little better education, I look forward to a glass of Buffalo. Film at 11...

at the moment i'm having some sort of cheap lite beer.....but i had a few vodka/lemon/sodas earlier.

i am SO happy that so many folks here have ventured into the Buffalo Trace and have found out how really fine the stuff really is.

i am kinda chilling out tonight as i am heading up to the Lodge early in the morning.....for almost a week.... Allegheny National Forest....trout fishing time of the year.

so after this evening.....i'll won't be on line until next wednesday. wave0

If you don't have fun, I'm filing a lawsuit, prick.
