And groupies with the Monkees but now they are just a sad shadow of themselves, playing Ramada Inn lounges and county fairs and stealing all of the backstage catering to eat back at the motel.

Yes. All orchestras are (to a large extent unless the conductor or one of the members wrote ALL of the music), and most jazz groups. It's not a bad thing though as the working and successful ones are usually quite awesome...unlike pop cover bands (rock, blues, country, R&B, etc.).

Orchestras and jazz ensembles have better material to work with than pop cover bands. :snooty:
