Update: So the tracking information is popping up now. The guitar, and a case are coming from different locations. The guitar is coming out of New Jersey, and it is now in Virginia - a mere 7 hrs. away. It's case came out of Chicago, and it really hasn't moved much at all, so it's still 7 1/2 hours away. The good news is that both packages are on the move again. It looks like both packages should be here by Thursday, although it might be possible to see them as early as tomorrow.

They're here! They arrived at about noon today, and fortunately I was working at home today, so they didn't sit outside very long at all.
Ok, we'll start with the obligatory teaser pics before the important stuff. I suppose that from the number of pics here, I am a little excited by this guitar. I was a little scared that this guitar might have been the one at the music store that everyone kept rejecting, because I couldn't find any other new 5120's. I am completely at ease now, because the fit and finish was perfect. I had to remove the packing material from under the floating bridge, and I was also concerned that making sure it was intonated well might be tougher than I thought, because so many people noted that. It turned out to be a breeze to do. I had it unpacked, tuned, and intonated within 20 minutes, and yep, right after that I had it plugged in. I actually like the silver pickguard with the Gretsch logo better than the clear pickguard, so this was a pleasant surprise. The last concern that I had was about the bridge buzzing that I kept reading about online (yes, there was a fix, but I was hoping that I might get one of the those that didn't need any adjustment). So far, so good. I hear absolutely zero buzzing, so it would appear that I got not only one of the last new 5120's, but I also managed to find one that is darn near perfect in every way. I may have gone overboard on the pics, but as I said, I'm very excited by this purchase.

I have an orange 5120 that came with a clear pickguard and I painted it gold. The silver looks great, too. I put TV Jones Classics and a Compton bridge on mine.

That orange finish looks awesome, too. It gives it a bit of a Brian Setzer vib. I did read that the TV Jones pickups and Compton bridge are common upgrades for overall sound and tuning stabilty. I'll live with it a bit and then see if I want to do something.
