I'm really close to just buying this and sorting out how to pay for it later.

lol.

I love my Deluxe but it's just not the best amp for my cover gig. It's not going anywhere but I think I just need to get something new, modern and well made for that stuff.

what about a Weber kit, or one of those local built amps you like (i forget the guy's name).

Considering you are a professional musician and gig as much as you do, justifying the extra cash is pretty much a no brainer.Though dropping that much coin on anything will always give you pause... Are you looking at the combo or just the head?

I'd love to do a weber kit, but I'm not yet comfortable building something that I'm going to rely on for work. Kevin Nelson makes great amps but what I need for this is less vintag-y and once it's built it's yours. And no resale value. I've just thought that if the SUhr didn't work for me at least it would have some resale value but I know it's a great amp out of the box.

that makes sense.

sell the bassman and go for it. head and 1x12 cab, of course.

I'd love the combo but between the price and the fact that I own a couple of cabinets already I'd do the responsible thing and get the head.

Reading about this thing on TGP was making my teeth itch though. People have way too much time on their hands.

On TGP make that money and you would be closer to the truth. Half the guys there seem to have more $$ invested in their pedalboards than I do in my entire rig.

yeah. It's funny because there are touring guys who post cool stuff and then there are the guys who obsess over which tune to put in V1 and then complain that it doesn't sound right at bedroom volumes.

Hold off till July and play my holland first. They can be had for about 700 on eBay when they come up. There's one on there now but they want stupid money for it and it's a 210 not a 112 like mine.

I would but i need to get this figured out sooner. Just spoke to my wife about selling the Bassman and she tried talking me out of it.

But, do you foresee a situation where the Bassman works for you in the future or is it a keep it to keep it kinda thing?

it's more about hanging on to the vintage stuff because I love having it. When I bought all this stuff there wasn't much in the way amplifiers that I liked from the current stuff (in the 90's) but I think there are so many good new companies out there and a Bassman is in no way irreplacable these days...

Well, I got what I was asking for the Bassman :)

Sad to see it go just for sentimental reasons but it turns out the guy I sold it too not only knows one of my best friends from high school but is also the owner of one of my favorite vintage Dodge trucks in the area. I think it's gone to a good home.

Now to buy an amp.

tell me about it. Probably the easiest sale I've ever made on CL and he was a really cool guy, too.
