I'm going to get PLANET PIZZA for dinner tonight since I have an appointment and it is next door....

I had a NY style slice at a place in Niagara Falls, NY last night.

I was told it was pretty authentic. It was even square.

Generally speaking, I know what a NY style pizza is, and I think this example was pretty true to authenticity.

It sucked.
There was hardly any cheese on it.
Very little sauce, but I like that actually. However, it looked like the entire pizza was run through a shower of sauce. It then cooked off and dried up. I get that. It’s like a proper flat bread as you’d see in Italy, basted in sauce.
I get the idea. It just makes the crust soggy and floppy, and that sucks.
The pepperoni cupped when it cooked. With the lack of cheese, the pepperoni slices kept rolling off the slice.

You were told incorrectly. Although technically you were in NY, you were too close to Canada and slipped outside the pizza belt. You maybe had Sicilian style pizza, which is a thing all its own, but nothing to do with NY style.

Mr. Smurfco on the other hand, has zero excuse. He's in pizza mecca. Anywhere between New Haven and NYC, you have to really go out of your way to get bad pizza.

There's a ton of mediocre pizza. Just go anywhere with the name Ray's.

You are headed to the land of Papa. Papa Johns, Papa Murphys and Papa Dominos are all you will have to choose from in Sacto.

Head west for Pizza My Heart. Plenty of good pizza in SF such as Escape from New York Pizza.

There's a few places we've been recommended, all brick oven pizzerias. Outside of that, I expect very little pizza to be consumed.

The Papa Murphy's by us closed up a few months ago. I never went there because I don't see the point in take and bake. The whole reason I order out for pizza is so I don't have to cook it :grin:
