I love the neck one but not entirely convinced in the bridge, I think I just like a humbucker tone too much for the sound I go for to stray from it!
Ok, Honeymoon is over, so I thought I would put up an update on the guitar.
I'm still really loving this thing. It is inanely resonant, sustains great, and sounds amazing both clean and dirty. It has very quickly become a real favorite. Even my wife has commented about how good it sounds....and that is a rare kind of comment. I'm really loving the 57 classic pickups. I didn't really like them in an LP I played a few years ago, at least compared to the burst bucker pros in other LP models I played at the same time. The sure seem to fit this SG and produce a lot of great sounds. I sure like them better than the typical high output 498/500 SG combo pickups. Obviously, my efforts are from a small sampling of guitars, so your mileage may vary.
I went over it with a fine tooth comb when I swapped strings and couldn't find any issues with it in terms of Gibson QC problems. Everything is perfect.
As I have said before, Gibson makes a lot of mistakes and crazy decisions, but they are still capable of making an amazing guitar when all the stars align.

It covers the tenon of the neck joint. They moved the neck pickup of the SG a little closer to the bridge because if it was butted right up against the fretboard like on an LP the neck would just snap off.
