Question: I missed the memo on Bigsby hate

Guitars with Bigsbys seem to get a majority negative response here. What's the hate about?

Note: I don't own anything with a Bigsby myself.

it's about a 1:1 ratio with people who hate floyds. in each case, it involves copious amounts of user error.

Can't say I hate em.
I just don't like em.
They look cool but they add weight and complexity. I'm a simpleton.

I like the idea but don't own a guitar with one (yet). Just another piece of hardware.

I think they look cool, but I really dislike the way they feel. The examples I have played also were pretty bad for tuning stability, but I'm sure they can be set up properly to mitigate this issue.

Mitigate to a degree.

They are inherently unstable, a flawed and dated design.

My White Falcon has a Bigsby, and while it aesthetically suits the guitar, it also is reason #1 why I never play it.

With the proper setup they are just as stable as any other vibrato unit. I have two Bigsby equipped guitars and they are both solid.

idn_smilie. I like mine.

I don't have a problem with them, or Floyds. But I prefer the Bigsbys visually. I like the retro look better than the metal look.
