Achtung! I have an idea! (RecordingFest related)

Master of the Meh
The white elephant thing had so many great covers, I was thinking it would be kinda cool if some of the participants put up mp3's of just the guitar solo parts (with their own solo dropped out) and any of the forumites who wish, could put their own solo on whichever one or ones they choose.

Sort of like when we did the "you shook me all night long" thing, only with no pressure and no deadlines... just submit 'em as you do 'em kinda deal.

What say the Weiners?

Sounds good to me. So, leave everything, but mute all the lead guitar parts? Is that the plan?

I'm game.

But really there's not much lead guitar at all on this song, just rhythm guitar. So I took the "lead" which was kind of a synthy modulated guitar sound out of the coda and pared back the rhythm guitars extremely.

The original version had a couple of things that bothered me - the vocals clipped the mic at one point so I fixed that as best as I could with the tools I have. They also seemed to be panning around wildly in headphones so I tried to figure out the source of that and it appeared when Kate was singing she was moving around a little and the delay I had on her voice exagerrated that effect. Odd.

I pared back the guitars a bit to make it a little easier to play along too.

I'm actually gonna give that a shot myself. As you guys know, i never solo. But i'm starting to learn, so this will be a good exercise for me. Couldn't ask for a better backing track, thats for sure.
