Question: How much digested food can your intestines truly hold?

I have had a bit of intestinal chaos going for 2 days now. Not eating much but spending a lot of quality time in the bathroom so I got to thinking...how much more can possibly be in there?!?!
I am not exaggerating when I say I've probably lost 4 pounds in 2 days. WHEN WILL THIS END? HOW MUCH CAN POSSIBLY BE INSIDE MY BODY?
And this is not just liquid. It has structure.
Ok, enough grossing you out.

FWIW, poop is ~75% water ("solid" poop is, runnier stuff is even higher H2O percentage), and something like a third of the dry weight is bacteria that are living/reproducing in your gut, so as long as you're eating just enough to keep them fed, yer gonna keep pooping

I had like 4 bean burritos yesterday (homemade/not tina) I think I lost two pounds this morning

In all seriousness though, this is probably a question best suited for a medical professional

I have no scientific knowledge to base this on, but I think it makes sense if you’re familiar with muzzle loader guns. You put in your powder first, then wadding, and then the bullet. Lighting the powder is the force. The wadding makes sure everything in the barrel comes out. I think lettuce makes good wadding. You need more of that.

If it's possible for anyone else to provide a detailed anecdote, I'd really appreciate it. Let's keep this thread on page one until the earth crashes into the sun.

I had a large part (I want to say 1.5-2m but I was high af on morphine when they gave me the run down so I'm not 100% sure) of my intestines removed for life saving surgery when I was younger.

It has some interesting effects on my movements :secret:
