It was my original AOL screen name and is based on a freaky Zappa/Beefheart ditty. I have used it as my handle for practically all forums I have participated in, except for the aquarium one. There I am "minime" because that was what we called one of my fish.

Mine was a carry over from HCGJ....I was stoned, at the time I was into the dead and Bob Dylan....in my stoned mind I wanted something I could remember...D=Dead, d+dylan, Bob is for "Bob dylan"

My FIO (fade into Obscurity) username is DesertBob...Maybe Mark could change my name to desertBob...I kinda like that one better :embarrassed:

we have done this subject many times.
mongoose was my radio call sign (handle) while in the USAF. when i first started getting on the internet in like 2003 (ish), i tried to make my screen name mongoose, but it was taken, so i went with mongooz. and it followed me here from H.C.

It's a mic I used to use a lot for recording (it's the type Andy Johns used for the famous Zeppelin "When The Levee Breaks" drum sound). When I first started participating in forums it was mainly audio/recording related stuff so naming myself after a mic seemed like the thing to do. I've kept that handle for anything music related ever since- I use a different name entirely for German scheisse porn forums.

there's two "O's" in Mongoose, boys.
 
I needed a throw-away name that I could use to sign up on Harmony Central and check out the reviews. Turns out, it wasn't throw-away after all, but I've come to like it quite a bit.
 
I was chicken monkey at hcgj, which came from a Brian Posehn bit. I thought I'd evolve when i came to mwgl, plus there's a Bruce Springsteen reference there.
