[FONT=open_sansregular]The Danny Gatton Signature Telecaster® guitar is based on Gatton’s heavily customized ’50s Telecaster. The cubic zirconium side markers will reflect light even on the darkest stages; other features include a swamp ash body, specially shaped maple neck with 22 frets, dual Bill Lawrence®-designed pickups based on the original specs of Gatton’s personal instrument, and a special Telecaster® bridge and saddles.

$5K list? $4K street?

No.

How much would it cost for those pickups - or something damned close - right from Bill Lawrence?
All the rest of what makes this different either doesn't really matter (CZ markers, signature on the headstock) or is a personal preference (neck carve).
The swamp ash body might add to the price a bit, but they are not unobtanium, correct?

It's lovely. I'd certainly take it if someone gave it to me.
No way in aitch-ee-el-el I'd pay that kind of money for it.

Hmmm, it seems OK, but not at that price. Frankly, sometimes Fender goes a bit overboard with the artist models.

These used to have Joe Barden pickups on them, didn't they? Not like they could get them again, but that explained some of the price back then.

F*ing Hot. Almost bought one when it was first introduced. The only thing that I didn't care for is the baseball neck which is what Danny used. However with some sandpaper and some Baimun patience - Whoooo Haaaaa! Miracles can happen.

Subbing in Bil Lawrence pickups is totally bogus. The Barden's were a huge part of the voice of Gatton's guitar.

I've played a couple from the original run. They weren't my favorite CS Fenders. The zirconium markers were a bit silly and tended to fall out fairly quickly and the guitar was voiced to be VERY bright. I was much more impressed by the 40th anniversary Tele which came out in the same basic era (and remains one of the "one's-that-got-away" for me).

Zirconium marker fail.....

Looks like Fender trying to make a quick buck. I do like the body color though. I used to have a G&L ASAT in that color.

's OK, but I'd make my own w/ my preferred neck w/out the CZ markers for about 1/8th the cost :embarrassed:.
