She digs the bass. We like a lot of the same music, so it was easy to pick out some beginner friendly progressions for her to pick up from songs she'd heard a lot before 
We played:
"Slow Dance on the Inside" by TBS
"23" by Jimmy Eat World"
"A Decade Under the Influence" by TBS
"Sugar We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy
And she's memorizing notes really well. She's got A, B, G, D, and E going really well. Also, she's got some good reflexes, tends to mute unused strings without having to thinking about it, moves to right behind the fret if a note starts buzzing, and is good at jumping right back in if she loses her place and drops out for a few counts. Lastly, she's really picking up learning where the notes are, instead of string/fret instruction.
Best part: It was very visible that she was having a blast
