Hitting the Workshop Circuit

Gary Blanchard

beloved, local musician
In September and October I will be doing workshops at two addiction conferences based on my new book, Counseling for Medication Assisted Recovery. The weekend on September 8-11 is the Cape Cod Symposium on Addictive Disorders; this draws people from all around New England and the Mid-Atlantic region. While there is no pay, they are putting me up for two nights and paying me for transportation and meals. Since I go every year, this is a great deal for me. I will do a 90 minute workshop on Saturday and a book signing on Sunday. Carol comes with me to this so it is also a bit of a getaway for us.

October 10-11 is the Association for Addiction Professionals of New York annual conference in Saratoga Springs, NY. This is a smaller conference, but it is still nice to add to my resume. I am awaiting more details on this one, but know I am doing the 90-minute workshop and will be able to sell books.

Needless to say, I'm excited about this. Leading workshops is almost as much fun as playing banjo.

If you want, I would be happy to add a musical score, and other embellishments...

I'll keep that in mind. I hope to blend in some of the Powerpoint slides to the video so it isn't just seeing me talk for 90 minutes.

I am still hoping to get to the West Coast Symposium on Addictive Disorders held in La Quinta, CA so I can sneak in a possible visit to Weiners out there. They would also pay for lodging and travel. :thu:

OK, found it... Out in the desert... They would have to pay me a lot to head out there to that shit hole...

On the other hand, you are near Indian Wells, which has some great off road areas... I'm pretty sure that's one of your favorite pastimes... :)

AH, but is is a shit hole on the left coast, a place I have not visited. Plus, I can play hooky a day and try to hook up with folks out there.

And, yeah, I'm big on off-roading.

:) You are practically in Arizona out there... On the other hand, if it is a weekend, it's pretty easy to head west... Weekdays, forget it... On the other hand, I think Phil lives somewhere sort of close...

Also, you aren't far from Palm Springs, so at least you'll have somewhere to get away from the desert tweakers... You can hang out with old retired alcoholics, instead... Anyways, you are also on the backside of some nice mountains, so you will find something cool to do, I'm sure... Speaking of off road fun, Phil has a dune buggy...

sounds like a good deal for ya, Gary
hope it goes well.

*makes plans to bring a few banjos to Pragestock*
