It's just as much cheap finely ground pepper as salt. You want the secret to KFC chicken? Whole shitload of salt and McCormicks finely ground pepper. That's 90% of it.

I have to scratch the "junk food fried chicken" itch once or twice per year.

We have a Popeyes in my area, but it's terrible. I've had really good Popeye's elsewhere, but this branch somehow manages to suck. Strangely enough, the Burger King across the street is also the worst Burger King in my area. It's like the "don't give a fuck" fast food district. And that's saying a lot, as fast food is almost always made by people who don't give a fuck.

So, I guess I'm a KFC guy by default.

The one Popeyes I've been to here is in the Brea Mall of all places and it was awesome. Burger King is the worst everywhere in California. We have a KFC down the street from our house but we rarely eat there. The last time was when I tried the double down just to gross people out on the forum
