Have we discussed the horrible fashion choice of this weekends MLB games ?

Considering that you are talking about a sport which has commentators blabbing on about nothing for 90+ % of the game because hardly anything happens ever...why not change it up? We are talking about a game so long and boring that they have a little stretch somewhere around the 2/3 mark to keep the people from stiffening up, wake up the sleepers and clear the hot dog fog from the heads of the spectators.

Baseball is like golf - it's a sport made for highlights. Highlights cuts out all of the "well Joe, Buck was a pitcher in high school and switched to 3rd base in college. He won a National championship and was picked up by the farm team for the...BLAH BLAH BLAH..." for 3 hours. Sure, you'll miss the "that was just a little high but Blaskey took a swing at it and fouled it off. Just about hit that fan who was talking to someone behind her...." and the "ball three for a full count. This is Joey's 12th full count this year as he's become very patient, making opposing pitchers really work. He's going to wait for his pitch and...BLAH BLAH BLAH..."

And don't forget the commercials. Those glorious tv commercials. You are on your butt watching a baseball game so you need some chips, maybe beer or Pepsi and maybe some candy to tide you over during this coma that someone convinced you was a sport - the athletes work harder in warm up than they do during the game.

You know what they should add to baseball? Paintball! Try pitching a strike with a few fans unloading some colour in your direction. Or perhaps maybe the third base coach could do the shooting. Maybe no paintball but each fan could throw a quarter of a hotdog on to the field one time per game. Anything...anything to liven that up.
I always thought that the fielders should have to throw and hit the runner with the ball to get them out. I also think if the runner could knock the baseman off of the base he should be safe.

Full contact baseball! Who’s with me?

No, just no. Baseball is clearly NOT for you. The subtlety of the game is lost on the ADHD generation.
I’m glad people enjoy baseball, but it’s a sport for people with nothing to do with their day. I don’t have six hours to sit around and watch overpaid ”athletes” scratching their ass and spit.

Basically that is how I feel about all sports, but that's just me.

That's the point. They don't call it 'Americas pastime' for nothing. The great thing about Baseball is that you can give it as much or as little attention as you desire and still enjoy the game. I can be outside with the game on in the living room, and still keep track of what is going on. I can also sit intently analyzing each at bat, pitching choices and locations in a 0-0 pitchers duel. It's all good, and it doesn't need 'fixing'.

I work my asss off every day. I look forward to comin g home in the evening and watching a relaxing 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hour baseball game. it doesn't interfer with my day at all.

I'm not included in the ADHD generation. I see the subtlety of the game but for subtlety to be appreciated there should be some contrast that is more than 1% of the game. The 'subtety' of grass growing is lost on me too for the same reason.

Therefore, the boring state of nothing happening is not a subtlety - it's the dominant characteristic of the game. The true subtlety would be a nice hit with some base running as that is less than 1% of the game.

Was there a point to the black and white uniforms? I watched a few Phillies games while I was on vacation and it made no sense to me

The game should be called Pitching. If you don’t like to watch pitching, then find another game.

I rest my case.

Let me ask you this, which league do you normally watch, when you watch?

This.
Understanding the what, when and why of pitching is everything. If 'you' (not you) don't understand why catchers call pitches and locations differently during different pitch counts, with different outs & with/without runners on base, you are missing the 99%. Situational baseball.

the dominant characteristic of the game is that something is ALWAYS happening,. It might not be full speed like Euro futbol but there is always something happening. It always amazes me to hear someone give the lazy stereotypical answer as yours and then find out they think american football is exciting and if that's not the case then you find out they don't really care for any sports.

and also watching paint dry, grass grow, ice melt....are you my dad ?

Listen BAB...

Nothing is always happening.
Euro futbol is full speed?

If I was I would have already died of shame.
unobservant is unobservant ....Manager is chewing gum, centerfielder checks his batter notes which are taped to the inside of his hat, third baseman pumps fist into glove and crouches down in anticipation to a hit, the whole team shifts position for hitter, pitcher throws to first to check runner from stealing second in order to preserve potential double play....

Something is always happening
