Have my first gig with a my new band this evening!

not a n00b anymore
I'm crazy excited/nervous and need a place to vent.

I've gigged before, plenty of times, but this is a different kind of group so it's new to me. Rehearsals have been going well, and the band seems to have great chemistry so I'm pretty hopeful. Still nervous though.

This will also be the first gig where we run the entire band (minus drummer) through the PA with a dude working sound for us.

Better go load the car!
 
We are playing a Relay For Life at Clarion University in PA.

It's in their rec center (so fairly large, gym type atmosphere, not overly thrilled about that, but we'll make do). I'm using the PA more to have a centralized person help control our sound, than to get a louder sound.

We will be doing some originals, and some blues/rock covers. Hopefully we will get some video up, but there will at least be pictures. Thanks guys!
 
Good Luck Ryan. First gigs have alwyas been both nerve wracking, and exciting for me. Exciting because you finally are doing more than just rehearsing, and nerve wracking, becuase you're always worrying how well the gig will go. Have fun! :)

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner, I had one hell of a busy weekend.

Anyway, the gig went awesome, particularly for a first gig. We were pretty well received, and people dug our originals (kind of pop/blues rock type stuff). We have a couple videos but the audio quality is so bad that I'm not posting them.

Glad that the gig went well! I just joined a new band and I can't believe how much nerves could get the best of me even when I have been in way more demanding bands.
 
Yup it was a good time.

As for the PA, on the back of the mixer, for each input, there is a line-mic switch. I was running the amps direct, so I just assumed that meant have the switch on line... I was mistaken. I'm fairly new to running a PA, so I am still learning.
 
Fantastic! It looks like you guys had a great show! :thu: Great gigs are always a rush! Did you guys do like I've dosne in some of my bands? - went out for a bite to eat afterwords, and discuss the gig?
