Has anybody added that infamous song from the Barbie movie to their live sets?

Chicken Man

Kick Henry Jackassowski
The cover song that Ken does (no spoilers)? I think enough people have seen it, and that song is impactful enough, that a solo acoustic type performer would kill with it at this moment in time. I have a rare solo performance in a month or so and want to open with it.

Thank you for reminding me.... I thought the same thing when I saw the movie.

But it definitely needs that exaggerated snarl and 'tude.:lmbo:

Don't worry about spoilers...the movie has been out long enough. Plus I have no intention of seeing it. I actually offered for us to go to my step-daughter, and she said no.

Okay, just found this reaction of the song's writer and original artist to the cover...

Even now, when he's getting to the end of the first verse and the end of the chorus it makes me laugh so hard. :lmbo:

UGHHHHH

The sad part is I love Matchbox 20. This ain't no spoiler, just crap.

Singer sounded like he is squeezing the vocal out through his cheeks.

That's Ryan Gosling.... I laugh when he sings it, I don't when Rob Thomas does... so I must be able to compartmentalize it. :helper:

Glad that Rob found it humorous in an outside kind of way....butt of the joke.

But hey a lucrative motivation always helps.

Just like sliced ham? :lmbo:

I haven’t seen it yet, but my youngest did and said it was awesome. When I heard they were making a Barbie movie, I had zero interest, then I saw the preview when I went to a movie and I want to see it now. I think we are going to try and go this week before my kids head off to college this weekend.

I like the review of "If you love Barbie, you'll love this movie... if you HATE Barbie, you'll love this movie". Kinda like the self deprecating Brady Bunch movie.

Okay... we've gotten far enough into this thread... I'm sure we can avoid { SPOILERS } if we need to...

.... but when I'm learning to sing a song in a particular style, this is the notation that I use. I add phonetic or even onomatopeic spellings, use elipsis for pauses, italics for gravel or whispers, and I bold the chorus and then reference returns to eliminate repetitive sections. Usually this keeps the lyrics on one, or at worst two, screens on my ipad while glancing at it on the mic stand.

So here's what I have for this one:

Said I don't know if I've ever been good enough
I'm a little bit rusty… an I think my head is cavin' in

An.. I don't know if I've ever been really loved
By a hand tha..s touch’d me And I feel like something's got to give

And I'm a little bit angry… well
This ain't O.. ver, no, not here… nah

Nah while I still need you aroun..
You don't owe me, we might change, yeah…

Yeah… we just might feel good

[Chorus]
I wanna push you around
Well, I will… well, I will
I wanna push you down
Well, I will… well, I will

I wanna take you for grah-nahd..
Well, I wanna take you for grah-nah.. ya-ya..
Ahh.. wih..ha-hill..
*

She said I don't know why you ever would lie to me
Like I'm a little untrustin'
When I think that the truth is gonna hur..t’ya

And I don't know why you couldn't just staaay with me
You couldn't stand to be near me
When my face don't seem to wanna shine

'Cause it's a little bit dirty, oh, well….
Well, don't just stan…there.. sayin' nahce-hings t’me

'Cah-I've been cheated, I've been wrahgn’d… an’yu
Y’don't.. know.. me… yeah… well, I can't change

I won't do anything at all…. [Back to Chorus]*

Oh don’t bowl me over
Jus wait aminute well it kinda fell apart things
Get… so… Crazy… Cray haze zay..
Don’t rush this baaybaaaay
Don’t rush this babay, baybaaaaaay

[Chorus]

:helper:

Thank you fuckers. :annoyed:

Now I've had this song stuck in my head for nearly 24 hours.... and yes I learned it... yes I will be "Ken-ing" it at our next gig.

And for the rest of you... it's pretty straightforward.

G.... Dsus/F#... Em7... Cadd9

If you know how to play Wonderwall, you're already 90% of the way there.
