Dig it! Happier New Guitar Day (after some work)! GFS to the rescue.

Most of y’all are aware of my most recent NGD. Love the guitar. When I got it, someone had just spent $90 on a set up. Not going to name the tech, but WTF?! Action was quite high. Middle of the nut was stripped. Otherwise, it was in perfect shape. It just looked like it needed a tech and a setup?!!!!

Had a GFS Floyd that you don’t have to cut the ballz off and a nut installed on a guitar I wasn’t done with and wasn’t happy with the outcome. Yanked that shit off, pulled the Floyd & stripped nut off the green machine and installed the GFS.

Differences, even though the other licensed Floyd had steel saddles and block and the ballz stayed on the strings, they locked in to the bridge in a stupid way. Leave the ball on, but make it so you have to have those stupid fucking metal blocks, 1.5mm x 2mm, little pieces of fuck (the real reason I changed the nut and bridge), I lost one.

GFS bridge dropped right in. Nicer build, heavier steel block, no stupid blocks = faster string changes and eliminating a horrible design flaw.

Wanked on it using divebombs and pulled it up a step or two and after breaking in new strings, tuning was rock solid. This bridge also feels better against my palm.

This rectifies a major issue, couldn’t take new axe to gig Saturday. New axes that can’t gig get fixed or go away.

looks very cool!

I almost bought one of their headless guitars, a few years ago. They were out of stock for the one I wanted though.

I really like playing guitars with Floyds, but I am not as fond of the engineer’s wet dream of adjusting, changing strings, etc. It looks like that GFS design is pretty robust. I’m betting it requires less care and feeding than some.

I tried it after reading the specs on the gfs website. I have several licensed Floyd equipped guitars, this is more on par with original Floyd. Waaaayyyy easier to string!

I thought I was done with Floyds, they are fucking everywhere! I have more Floyd equipped guitars than not.

Haha, I am pretty certain I have never even touched or held a Floyd-equipped guitar. Much less played one.
I've never spent much time with a Floyd-equipped guitar either, but I've been gassing for a 80's style super strat/soloist for a while now. The OP's is quite nice.

It's dialed in too! I have worked on getting it perfect. The last thing I need to do is hit the trem collar with loctite. I hate the way they constantly unscrew. But the tremolo is set to be a pleasure to play with, as are all other aspects of this guitar. Jescar frets, great pickups (never heard of them, can't find any info on them, but they sound so good in positions 2 and 4. Great split coil sounds. Neck sounds so Hendrixy and the bridge like my Strat, but better and less hum.

How is the quality of the build? I liked the looks of yours and went to their site. They have a LP inspired guitar that looks awesome for under $1k.
