I got this guitar in Maryland with all my Heelstock buddies at Atomic Music. It's a 1999 MIK LP Standard. It feels really nice and has a pretty good weight to it for a LP. But the electronics are kinda crap.
I am replacing the stock pickups with a DiMarzio PAF Pro in the neck and a Super Distortion in the bridge. I started to rewire it last night and I realized that the pots and electronics are all extremely shitty. I was going to just wire it into the original harness. I got the neck pickup wired in - or so I thought - and I went to test it and... nothing. At that point I decided to get some better pots etc. and replace everything.
As for the strings - they're a brand new set. I don't want to burn them so I loosened them enough to get the stock pickups out and to put the new ones in.

PAF Pro is a nice pickup. But it is not the pickup I think of when I think of Smurfco.

I played that guitar in the barn more than @smurfco did...it was really good for an Epiphone...REALLY GOOD...
The neck is a chunk '59 profile, a bit more than I prefer, but the thing felt rock solid...

There was a Tokai John Sykes Les Paul there, if that's the one you mean, but it was junk...Was the John Sykes LP still there at Atomic? I liked that guitar

Welp your pal smurfco is a failure. Both of these pick ups are wired in, everything should be working, but the output is super super super low. Like I have to put the amplifier on 10 and then I can hear faintly that the controls and switch work like they should, but the output is just really really low.If it were just one pick up I would think it was defective, but it’s both. I triple checked the color codes and I just don’t see what I’m doing wrong
