Description: 2001 Fender® Stratocaster® Deluxe is in excellent condition and perfect playing order. This is a whole lot of guitar! The original pickups were swapped out with a Seymour Duncan, what we assume to be, JB in the bridge and 2 Little 59's in the middle and neck. The control knobs have been changed and the strap buttons were changed to the Schaller strap locks, otherwise the rest of the guitar is stock. The slim "C" neck profile with the rosewood fingerboard makes it a real fast and easy playing neck. The frets have normal playing wear. The roller nut is great for keeping your strings from catching when doing big bends and the locking tuners make it a breeze to change strings. The body has no dings or chips, just minor scuffs and scratches. It came to us missing the tremolo arm. However, it does come with a nice hard shell case.

How many ways are there to hate a strat?

I love an HSS strat but dont love the idea of little 59's in place of regular sc's. I'm not familar with the roller nut deal so not sure on that. Otherwise, it looks like a strat. I'm sure it doest something well.
 
Yep, it is a strat with humbuckers... First off, I don't even like the middle pickup in a strat all that much, but I can dig the quacky single coil tones of positions 2 and 4 sometimes... Three humbuckers is ridiculous... And, roller bridges suck tone... And, vintage floating trems suck... And, of course, we all know that strat volume knobs are in the way of strumming...:wink:

I could be mistaken but I think it is more of a "point/counterpoint" kind of thing and not so much arrogant or purposely condescending. More like good natured prodding for the sake of creating conversation. Just part of the skit.

apologies, just trying to actually have a discussion about guitars around here. they happen so infrequently.

Some people get off on being condescending, arrogant assholes, not that I'm calling anyone condescending or arrogant... Just sayin...
 
This is from the era where I used to sell Fender Guitars, so I am pretty sure that acoustically this instrument sounds about as "live" as a bowling ball.

I have always hated the roller nuts. I don't like how guitars sound with them on it and IIRC any corrosion will cause you tuning problems. I also don't think they allow you to have string guages higher than 11 if you're into that sort of thing.

I hate JB pickups. Not sure on the "Little 59's" in the neck and middle but I typically don't care for a neck humbucker in a strat and having a middle one is no bueno for me as well.

Have you ever used these staplocks? PITA:

I'm not a fan of the Sperzel locking tuners although many people like them. I had a set on my Tokai and after weekly string changes for a year they wore out to the point where they wouldn't hold a string in the post. I've had the same Kluson tuners on that guitar since the mid 90's and I use the Gotoh versions on the rest of my guitars and not only do I not have any tuner-related tuning problems but I'm of the opinion that the lower mass tuners on the headstock allow the neck to resonate more freely. YMMV.

if i have to have metal straplocks, i'll take Schallers over Dunlop any day.

Fender guitars really took a turn for the better when they redesigned the American Series in 2000. all the old wood became MIM guitars and the entire line got upgraded.
