Every time I see a double neck, and think about the weight, I realize why the SG was a pretty good choice as a double neck.

Love the look of the Gretsch version, though!
 
I'm a little confused as to why these are still made, with pedals and other simulators that can create a pretty good 12-string sound, but they do look neat.

You answered your own question. Multi-neck guitars are props.
 
Looks like it might be a pretty recent issue. Probably a custom shop order.
They're from the pre-FMIC era, revived company (1990s-2002). It's sort of a custom shop Nashville 6122. Only a few were made. The only things I don't like about it are the pickups (during that era, FilterTrons used ceramic, instead of Alnico magnets), and the headstock shape, which is kind of Baldwin era Gretsch in shape.
