Almost 3 years into this band thing, countless hours invested, twists and turns, ups and downs, spending a bloody fortune... it's been both amazingly rewarding and unbearably frustrating at times.

We struggled to find decent gigs. We kept our standards high to the point of detriment in order to not fall into being just another local dove bar band.

Finally, the flood gates have opened. We have gig requests coming in faster than I can keep up with all of a sudden. Good gigs, paying gigs, at highly sought after spots.

I felt like maybe the worm had turned after our outrageously fun bar gig a few weeks ago. 6 days later, we did the Friday night Prime time show at the Del Mar Fair to thousands of people and put on a heck of a show.

Word must have gotten out. It's gone off the rails. So far over the last week, I have confirmed 5 paying shows for August, and 3 for September.

Emails are coming from all over... some through our own website portal, some directly from venue people, social media... It's just awesome.

It's about damned time we got some attention in this one horse town. The fact that we did it without sacrificing who we are makes it all the more special.

Onward and upward!
 
Awesome. It's nice when paying gigs come to you rather than you having to go looking.

We still get a few great paying gigs here and there, and we'll play a couple of small bars that don't pay much, but are fun.

Sadly, Mixed Nuts is well beyond its expiration date, so we play less gigs every year.

Excellent! Always good to hear a band success story. I know you worked above and beyond for this band.

The evolution from when you last saw us, to what we are now is nothing short of miraculous. Since bringing Chas (Bass) on board last year, it's been an incredible transition. We pick up new songs so fast now it's truly scary. Sometimes simply mentioning a song at rehearsal ends up with that song added and locked in before we call it a night. We have something like 160 songs now, any one of which, we can pull out at will. It's ridiculous.

My voice has had some serious trials due to some nasty ailments, but it has bounced back to a point I thought was ancient history. I'm hitting high notes now with ease that were unattainable a year ago... absurd to expect two years ago. Not only has it gotten stronger and more stable, but somehow much much smoother than before.

These guys push me to always step up my game. My guitar playing has improved immensely as well. I still struggle mightily with the arthritis and stiffness/pain, but I'm playing things that I used to think were beyond my ability. I really am having the time of my life with this thing.

I have to say for the record once again:

This would NOT be happening if not for this place, these amazing people, and all of the inspiration and motivation I've gotten from being here. You guys gave me back a piece of my life that had been missing for far too long, and which brings me so much joy and happiness. I thank you all (Especially Mark) for everything.
 
Man, that is FANTASTIC to hear, I'd like to catch one of your shows sometime, are you in Sandy Eggo?

Keep up the hard work, sounds like it's coming to fruition and then some!

Hey! I may rant about a lot of things, but rarely about the band. I don't even remember the last time I wrote anything ranty about it. Probably something to do with the long gone former bass player. I love this shit!
