Wait... He said you always record clean and add distortion. What sort of fucktard is he?

Let's return to topic? I'd buy a new Gibson ... if it were a nice guitar and reasonably priced. Since a great many of them are not, it's very improbable. A nice Gibson is a wonderful guitar. Though this thread does make me wish FMIC would build more Gibson-y guitars. I have one (an Asian Jaguar with P90's and a hardtail) and it's very nice; were it made with quality electronics and hardware, it would be amazing.

As for the connector argument, I'm entirely with Doug. Engines are not an appropriate analogy; car parts where replacement is expected (bulbs, wipers, filters, plugs) are appropriate. And they have common connectors, albeit a great many of them.

Really, pickup changing should not require soldering. It's that simple.

Is anyone else bored with internet musicians group-hating on the same stuff week after week, month after month?

There comes a point when people start sounding like pasty-faced male hipsters who can't stop talking about how much they despise sorority girls.

I can think of a lot of things wrong with Gibson, but I find the argument about changing pickups to be a strange one. Of course, I would keep looking until I found a guitar that was right rather than buy one and endlessly change it until it was right. That reminds me of the folks who marry someone with hopes of turning them into the person they want.

I just have never had the "tinker" gene.

Heh...I watched the video you posted, saw a re-direct to a project cars video, watched that and then saw another redirect to another project cars video, watched that and so on...two hours later: "Where the hell did the time go?"

Why was I on You Tube again? Oh...yeah...the guitar video...lol.

I see you met my wife. How did that go?

You know, it WOULD be nice if we could crank up the internet hate machine on some other company. You think those guys at Yamaha are dicks? Maybe we can tear them a new one this week.

But Dean gets it 24/7 already...

Yamaha would be unpossible to hate. Dislike? Maybe. Mass hate??? I get your point though.

I'm with the folks that see that new system as positive, though I think they do it for their own motives with no thought of the customer.

Actually I think Yamaha is a pretty good company although I only have a few of their products...I was really just joking.

Actually a series of regular threads each discussing the pros and cons (not just constant bashing) of a music instrument company might have legs like a company of the day/week thread sort of like the GPOTD... idn_smilie

Honestly, I'd just like to be able to spend $1,500 and get a great Les Paul w/o bullshit. Is that such a tough nut to make?

I don't see why everyone gets so passionate about stuff like this.

Stuff changes over time and people that are used to having it "the way it used to be" change to "the way it ought to be"

Some stuff changes for the worse and sometimes stuff changes for the better

But it's all stuff in the end, mostly stuff we tell our selves we need.

And once you die, all that stuff is going to be someone else's problem.

They'll probably throw it away or sell it, because they have their own stuff to worry about.

Replace the word stuff with shit for better effect
