Torrefied maple board is a win.
But a maple body and no tone knob with a ceramic pickup? I can hear icepick shrillness from here.

My point is that Gibson really went cheapass on these. :grin:
And it could be that they used silver maple on the body. They don't specify. Silver maple is fairly close to alder in terms of density and weight.

what i like most about these new Gibson specs is that they're really trying to compete with the boutique builders. but the specs don't actually tell us anything.

Gibson has always cheaped out on the MM line. that was the whole point from the very beginning. to use up all the wood that wasn't good enough for the regular line. but now they're treading down into Affinity Strat territory, and charging $600 for the privilege. fuck them.
 
$600? Seriously? The regular MMs run less than $500 for a sunburst ($400 for black or white) and they have a tone knob, mahogany body and rosewood fretboard. :eek:
