That is a good point. I have had fries that were better than tater tots, but I think the average tot is better than the average fry.

as in all of these sorts of decisions, there such a huge range of good to horrible examples of both out there, and I'd take a good example of either one over a bad example of the other. Average tater tots vs average fries? I think I'd go with the tots. If we're comparing "best case" tater tots vs best case fries? probably fries.

I like French Fries, don't get me wrong. But French Fries includes sub-genres, like steak fries, string fries, curly fries, etc.....and let's face it, steak fries suck. So do Arby's Fries. They give me the shits.

I've never gotten the shits from tater tots.

I don't know if this is something that is widespread, but the roach coach that stops in front of my place of work does tater tops in the deep fryer. I've rarely tasted anything as evily good...
