Fall Recordingfest - The 80's!!!

Yeah, I figured you wouldn't go divebombing on the Suhr
Sounds cool :thu:

Thanks! I could have but it would have been a punch in :embarrassed:

I can't believe we actually got this one done ahead of schedule.

I thought I had hosed everyone on this one...I really didn't get started until Tuesday or so

So, I'm thinking now, I've got a couple of days left...I might try to get another song done. :embarrassed:

 How many will that be? I've lost track. I think you and Dexter have a good sized album between the two of you....

I can't even get ONE fucking song done. :(

Post it when you get it finished anyway....

If they get my studio wall fixed while I'm at work tomorrow I might be able to get one of them done. It'll have to be stripped back a bit, but if they can get it done, I'll try too. They're supposed to be here at 8:30, but they have to fix the kitchen, bathroom, and studio and it may not all get done. :(

Thats a lot of damage!

Yup. Holes were cut in all three places. Guy who was here on Friday just fixed the leak and said someone would take care of the rest today. Talked to my landlord this morning and she said she'd have him at my unit whenever he was finished with the other jobs.

The kitchen he has to wipe down the inside of the cabinets with bleach, re-contact paper them, fix the whole above the sink and remove a warped board. The whole damn kitchen smells all mildewy and gross. I plugged in an air freshener to help, but it's still really thick and ucky. :(

Bathroom they need to fix some cracked tile, repair the hole they cut in the dry wall to try and find the leak source.

In the studio they need to repair the two large drywall holes, re-paint, then vacuum up the drywall dust.

I'm really looking forward to this! :thu:...I'm sorry we haven't done any covers and I don't think our entry sounds particularly "80's"..but it is about 80 seconds long

I don't think my second one will be done at all. I've lost my motivation on it and my vocals suck.

If anyone wants to do vocals and the second solo to "Motorbreath" I could send it to you.

I did the bass line and three guitar parts last night. This song really needs a bit of keyboard, but i don't have one (yet) and time is about out. I have another idea for an electric part I may try tonight if I have time. All I have left is some small single note guitar parts and the lead vocal - which worries me since I have had a cold and my voice is no where near 100%. Luckily it is not a high song to sing, and my scratch voice track actually came out OK so in an emergency I will go with that one.

BTW - I thought it was interesting that when I went to the internet to find a chord chart for the song, that there were four or five floating around - and EVERY SINGLE ONE was wrong and/or incomplete. I don't have the greatest ear in the world but I figured out the missing chords and the correct ones pretty easily.

If it's not a real tough keyboard part, I might be able to do it. :embarrassed:

The basic keyboard part is actually pretty dang easy - but I'm attempting some ambient guitar stuff to duplicate the keyboard parts so I'll stick with that for this recording as a learning experience. I'll bear that in mind next time though. I almost emailed you Saturday to see if you could nail the lead guitar part for Rick Springfield's 'Souls' for me, but figured I needed more time to do the rest of my stuff than I had left. That song is way more complex than it appears at first listen....

Thanks for the offer though....
