Every time I get this out…

I have the box
…and play it I just kind of sit and marvel at how good it sounds. I’ve been on a Black Crowe’s kick lately and with slide and Open G. It’s been making me feel really good. I recently read Steve Gorman’s book and it just made me want to dig into all their albums , which I got at the 2nd hand music store, listen and think think about what was happening with them at the time..

Love that. I keep one of my guitars tuned to open G and recently I learned 'Sting Me'. It's a ton of fun to play.

I've been debating dedicating my solid body Vela to open G and learning some stuff...hmm...

I have been playing a lot of stones stuff in open g lately. All I have in open E is gimme shelter. What other ass-kicking tunes are in that tuning?

Stones (No Expectations, Jumpin Jack Flash, Can't always get what you want, capo-8). Much of the Allman brothers catalog, at least with Duane (Little Martha, Statesboro Blues)). Same with Derek Trucks (midnight in Harlem). Anything in Open D is essentially the same. Black Crowes, (She talks to Angels) ZZTop (just got paid) Joe Walsh (rocky mountain way) Faces (stay with me) Dylan (entire Blood on the tracks lp) Joni Mitchel, Pink Floyd (fearless)Elmore james (dust my broom) lots of blues tunes lend themselves to any open tuning.
