From atop the gate 7 parking building at Warner Bros.
The Hollywood sign is on the other side of the hill.
Best bit is the second pass about 2:20.

Pretty cool!

What were the 2 planes following? F-5's? F-16's? I couldn't tell from the video.

Yep, they're T-38s.

Unless they grew another tail, those are F-18s.

Yep, normally they would be NASA's T-38's, but it looks like F/A-18's. I'm not sure where they are from, as NASA doesn't own any 18's.

Endeavor should have stayed here by all logic, but LA? WTF?

Guess I should've looked closer. It was definitely T-38s up through Texas, so I just assumed it was T-38s all the way.

It makes sense to have one out on the west coast, since the shuttle assembly facility was in Palmdale, and lots of shuttles landed at Edwards.

But yeah, Houston got royally screwed. Three on the east coast, one on the west, and zilch for the folks in the 3,000 miles between. I get pretty angry when I think about it.

Nice shots. I knew they were going to fly over NASA/Ames/Lockheed where I used to work, but didn't bother to make the trip. I had the pleasure of working on them in person, so seeing the last one piggyback wasn't that appealing.

BUT...
I had no idea they were going to fly over us on the way to the coast, then down to LA. My 14 year old was in PE, looked up and couldn't believe his eyes as they came directly over his school at 1500 feet above the redwoods. He said he could see so many details on the shuttle as well as "the f18 raptor pilot" quite clearly.
