I have been to Ireland 8 times since 2003. I may have only 1 Guinness per trip, as there are a number of other breweries. But that point a better in Ireland. Guinness does not travel well.My wife went to Ireland 10 years ago this past summer. She said Guinness was a completely different thing over there due to it being fresh.
Ireland Guiness has a creamier head and taste. Stateside tastes bitter. As always, I need to be more specific here. *spits* If you think it tastes different and can say specifically how in terms of flavor/texture/etc., please do so. No "it's fresher" or "my flat cap and Aran sweater cut off the blood flow to my brain". *spits*
MUCH better in the UK.
I'll go as far as saying ALL European and Australian beers are far better than American beer
I'm going to have to disagree with you there. The microbrew industry in the US is putting out beers on a even par with the best anywhere in the world. Now if you are talking about the major breweries (Budweiser, Coors, etc) I would agree. But most of them are owned by overseas firms now.
I know, I know, it’s not draught. But hey.
I don't know about Ireland/UK, but I had Guinness draught in New Zealand and it was so much more flavorful. It's relatively watery here.
My great-great-grandfather was, like my great-grandparents and my grandparents and my mother, a Dubliner. He worked for the Guinness Brewery until his death in 1922. He died fairly young, a swimming accident in the Royal Canal on the day of Michael Collins’s funeral. It doesn’t get much more Irish than that. RIP Papa Lyons.
Draught can is definitely watery, then bitter finish.
I buy my beer at Publix, i may need to get out more .I wholeheartedly concur. I will put the beers I get from places like Russian River, Bear Republic, Lagunitas, etc. against the best European beers.
