Mojo Request Double time...

MonkeyZero

Mexican Mayonnaise Weiner Sandwich
Two things needed. My uncle, not just my favorite uncle, but the man who taught me and got me on the culinary path, is on his last days. I can't even talk to him one last time because he's basically asleep 22 hours a day.
His liver has failed and it's due to a puncture during a colonoscopy which he refuses to pursue legal action. He's just basically given up. I need him to go peacefully. He is a great human being who taught me as much as my father and I will miss him dearly.
The second, not anywhere near as important issue, is that I have to fly for work tomorrow. Not excited. Excited for what I'll be doing but not excited to fly with everything going on.
Just putting it out there. Any words of encouragement would be appreciated.

Thanks

very sorry for your uncle. mojo.

as to the flying. wear a mask, bring hand sanitizer or something. the ones in packets, wipes kind of thing. they won't let you bring a bottle of it on board, but the little tear open ones you can have in your pocket. try to stay away from people.
hopefully the airline is keeping empty seats between passengers.

Watching a loved one die this way is such a painful thing. There is nothing that compares to that sense of helplessness and futility.

I’d tell you to try to offer whatever comfort you can; it seems obvious, but it’s a real skill like any other, and one that requires practice. And that’s something worth valuing. Our loved ones deserve it.

Beyond that, please take time to check in with yourself, to be kind, gentle, and forgiving with yourself, to take care of your own mental and physical needs, etc.

This shit is traumatic. It’s hard to say goodbye, and it’s harder still to properly grieve.

All I can say is that memories of these last days will eventually be overwhelmed by much better and more loving ones. And that will happen sooner than you think.

Hang in there.

So very sorry. I lost a friend last year to cancer. He had planned a big gathering so he cold say goodbye to everyone but he didn't last long enough.
I can't even erase old emails from him where discussed songs we'd play when we saw each other.
