Edit: I stopped listening to your take on the Kotzen jam after a minute as it depressed the hell out of me. In a good way. Like I said...LOT of work to do![]()

Cool!
we all feel that way
I am mid-transition on my alternate picking technique right now and the thing that bugged the shit out of me on my take was my complete inability to play in the pocket...![]()
What are you changing with your alternate picking?...over the years, mine seems to have changed from mostly elbow, to mostly wrist and recently more of a thumb/finger kind of push/pull movement.

I'm trying to get my wrist to move more effectively. Its really ben quite an effort![]()
..I have years of bad habits that I'm trying to improve, mostly around alternate picking as well
. On the jam track thing, I can hear where I keep switching between alternate/economy which would be fine if I couldn't hear it.
..but alternate just sounds so much more articulate to me.Mojo breaux..I have years of bad habits that I'm trying to improve, mostly around alternate picking as well

...just been practicing..well doodling really
..and noticed that when I play 3 note per string runs..ascending...I always start with an upstroke..
..and I think this is because I find it easier if my first "string cross" from say the low E to the A string uses "inside" picking..after that first cross..I alternate pick properly..so "outside" picking where required to keep it strictly alternate. Christ.
