Does anyone here want to do an internet music collaboration?

GreatDane

"up yours, baby."
i've done this a few times over the years back in the HCEG days, and each piece came out pretty cool (IMO). any style, any skill level. just looking for an opportunity to partner up and make something fun 'round here. Any interest? i can contribute guitar or bass (or both).

here's one i did a few years ago with HCEG forumite, Jkater. it's a popular Django cover called "minor swing". Jkater did the accompanying instruments and the mandolin. i did the lead acoustic guitar. it was a lot of fun, and not a style i had ever played in before. i appreciate Jkater letting me hack through his otherwise beautiful rendition!

I miss jkater...any chance of getting him to drop by here? He might like it here...

He's a great guy. He's on the Facebook group, but has been limiting his internet time for a while now in order to focus on family and music.

I do but it will take a day or so because I ripped everything apart yesterday when my new "old stock" Phonic Helix 24 board showed up...

I saw your new board on Facebook - sweet! These collaborations don't always come together quickly so take your time. The Jkater collab was quick and it took almost a month to complete due to schedules.

Scott just sent me a pretty cool backing track (drums, bass, keys). is anyone interested in putting some lead guitar on top? I figure if we can get enough folks participating, I can string the leads together and mix the whole thing down for a big "guitars, guitars, guitars!" virtual jam.

besides me, who's in?

here's a link to the backing track (source: Soundcloud):

and here's a link to Soundclick for easier downloading of the track:

once we figure out who all is participating, we can break the backing track into sections, and assign players to sections. once you have your section assigned to you, all you need to do is import the backing track into your DAW/project, record a lead track your section, and then send me a link to your isolated lead track (mp3 or WAV). make sure the lead track starts at 0:embarrassed:0 so the timing is right when i start consolidating tracks.

I'm still looking to do a "from scratch" collab, but this would certainly hold us over in the meantime.

I can probably throw something on it on Monday unless I can figure out how to make it work on my iPad...

I'll think about it. I have some ideas after listening to this. Would it be a problem if I used Audacity?

i don't think it would be a problem, Ellen. as long as Audacity allows you to export individual tracks to MP3 or WAV formats, then you're good. i'll import your track, along with everyone else's, into Logic later.

I think that was a backing track on HCEG sticky jam a ways back. Just found the take I did on it:

Would love to have another crack at it! Count me in.
