Do you ever get hooked on simple pop songs?

I have been taking a stab at learning this one. I like the chords and there seems room to mess around with some different leads.

Any of you get hooked on little pop songs?

during the hour+ drive to work, I've really been enjoying that "today I don't feel like doing anything" tune.
don't know who does it, but it reminds me some of Sublime, I guess.

dunno if you could call it pop either, but it's on a radio station that wouldn't be my choice.

All the time. "You and I" is a pretty good tune. I had it stuck in my head for weeks when that album came out.

weird.
I read "You and I" and my brain finished it with "...in a little toy shop, buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got".

set them free at the break of dawn, one by one til they were gone...

(I hope you are hearing the 7 Seconds version)

of course I am!
though I do like the orig one too.

if we can walk together, why can't we rock together.

I read You and I and thought

I listened hard but could not see
Life tempo change out and inside me
The preacher trained in all to lose his name
The teacher travels asking to be shown the same
In the end we'll agree we'll accept we'll immortalize
That the truth of the man maturing in his eyes
All complete in the seeds of life with you

Not exactly a pop song.

Although we are not really calling Wilco "pop", I thought of the Beatles a lot with this album. The "Wilco" album was the first one that hooked me. I have to go back now and listen to earlier stuff. I understand they have changed some.

Hey, here's one you will all claim to hate, but it will be stuck in your head...Mwuhahah!

Yes it's true... (Yes it's true)...
I am happy to be stuck with you...

Yes. More and more as I get older, unfortunately. I hate it. Lady Gaga is good at it. Poker Face and Allejandro especially. Catchy as hell.

that is an understatement. If you liked Wilco the album, I would work backwards. Sky Blue Sky followed by a Ghost is Born. Or just pick up the live album Kicking Television. That is a really good starting point since it is them live with no studio experiments.

I have also been hooked on the latest Decemberists. Not necessarily pop, but the simple "January Hymn" and "june Hymn" fit a bit. I like the old REM touches of the album too, and Peter Buck's cameo and influence.

I have never listened to them, but when I heard Buck was playing on it, I picked it up. I really like that album.

Same here. I had heard about them, but not listened much yet, other than catching a bit on Austin City Limits once I think.

A couple of the 17 year old kids I coach skiing are really into Wilco (and Umphrey's McGee and MGMT. Weird combo). One Wing was the first song that hooked me on Wilco.

One Wing is a great song. If you have youtube, check out Hummingbird.
