Dental pain sucks.....

This. Right before a much-needed root canal, I was in bed in a fetal position dry heaving from the pain. I was thinking a bullet through my skull would be a relief.

Saw the oral surgeon yesterday afternoon. There was a major infection. The doc numbed me up and pulled the roots and cleaned out some of the infected tissue.
Took him maybe 3 minutes once I was numb. I'm on antibiotics and Percocet. I unfortunately do not get the 'high' most do from oxycotin. Or maybe fortunately. I am hoping this pain is manageable without it by Friday. I have a bunch of friends flying in then and they are going to want to hit up several microbreweries.
 
Sounds like you got the "root" of the problem scooped out. Hopefully you will be well over the worst of it in time for the microbrews.

Anyway, beer is packed with vitamins and antioxidants and verpscillions to help you heal faster - FACT.

A few days after Christmas I am getting all four of my wisdom teeth removed. Never had it done when I was younger. I am 49 years old now and I am nervous as hell. This thread didn't help. People keep telling me they got dry socket and all sorts of other horror stories. WTF! :mad:

Don't sweat it. I had surgery done about 2 1/2 years ago, 2 wisdoms and 2 molars (yes, I have terrible dental hygiene and I'm paying for it).
I woke up during the surgery to the sound of crunching and breaking but didn't feel a thing. Went home, took my meds, slept it off. 2 days and I was fine. Dry socket is associated with smoking afterwards from what I know.
I actually used the surgery and recovery to quit. My surgeon prescribed me Chantix and I'm 2 1/2 years smoke free. That Chantix can fuck some dreams up real bad though. Super vivid and KA-RAZY

Meant to add, my surgeon knocked me out with something that gave me total amnesia of the surgery. Apparently I posted pics to Facebook of my bloody bandages afterwards. Oops.

I had a wisdom tooth pulled as well - no issues at all. I still need to get another two pulled.
