Poor old Geordie's array...
Just been offered £100 an hour to DJ from 3am to 9am for the night shift at an Amazon warehouse next week.

It's bad times for Bezos when he needs me to keep morale up.

Bad times for me when they introduced blackout / suicide booths first.

First off did Jeff even approve this ?
If he didn't do you have a good lawyer?

secondly three am till 9 is when people are sleeping so I hope you consider those nearby neighborhoods and respect peoples right to sleep

Thirdly You will need to report your earnings to Her majesty because the tax on 600 pounds can help fund things like meals for school children, roads, bingo games for the elderly

Ask yourself this....When you have to pee and hold it what do you do? Well you dance and move around so JBJ as a DJ is doing a service to alleviate works discomfort.

42% minimum of everything I earn as a DJ goes to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. That's AT LEAST £375 every gig.

I got shit all COVID grants / assistance and probably pay more tax than Amazon :embarrassed:
 
Just had to order £40 worth of stuff from Amazon to fix a scratchy fader on my Modi controller :mad:

hey look at it this way...at least with your 42 percent tax you get free healthcare in return ....over here if you were self employed or worked for a small DJ company you most likely would not even have healtcare insurance because you couldn't afford it.......unless you wanna pay like 200 lbs a month with a 10,000 dollar deductible, 50 dollar copay on meds and 20 percent copay for office visits...i.e really shitty insurance which you might as well n ot even have :) :wink:

It's a staggered system so the 42% only comes off the DJ self assessment return because my teaching salary puts me just into that bracket by a tiny margin. That bit is easy to work out, the tax I pay on teaching however is hoodoo, I've queried my end of year return (p60) a few times as the figures don't make sense to me and payroll just say whatever the figure is, it is. I'm not sure HMRC would agree...

Still beats having your MasterCard swiped going into A&E. There were numerous reasons I gtfo out of working in Qatar literally under cover of darkness but the predominant one was they had me on a sketchy tourist instead of working visa and if one of the dipshit maniac drivers ran me over I'd be in serious financial trouble.

I know this isn't the forum for this and I'm generally a lassez faire small L liberal but your healthcare situation is deplorable. Folk will storm the seat of government for the prick off the apprentice but put up with THAT shit?!?!?

I literally overheard a conversation on Monday where two people were slagging on the Michigan Governor because of overreach during the pandemic... and then one of them took a phone call an hour later and had to return something they bought at a predatory buy-here-pay-here place because the payments were too high that week and they don't get paid until next. :facepalm:
