Even though technically it’s never been away, i know of quite a few people near me that got Covid in the last week. Seems to be on the rise again. Better be a bit careful; even though i haven’t heard of a single severe case or death recently, one of my friends contracted long covid and has been partially disabled since, having to give up their job

Yep. this kind of virus never goes away entirely. Just like the flu. It is with us forever. Thanks Wuhan lab......
 
I know 4 or 5 folks at work that have tested positive recently. Like @Denverdave said, it's not going away. The real question is do you continue to get vaccinated for it. The data is a bit mixed on that, especially if you've had it in the last 6-8 months and have any natural immunity. I get a flu shot every year, so may get a booster in the fall. I don't plan to get another round of 3 or 4 COVID vaccines though.
 
Do they even have a new vaccine to boost with? I haven’t seen anything in doctor’s offices or pharmacies about another round of boosters.
 
Guidance here has been to wait until fall to get boosted as that’s more likely to protect you during the season of higher risk to respiratory illnesses (flu, cold, etc.)

I got a cold last week….

That said, I will get boosted in a month or so.
 
Yeah, it's crazy how it's still around. I've heard similar stories, man. Even if it's not hitting as hard, the lingering effects like long covid can be a real downer. Stay safe out there!
 
A friend went to a casino for the day and then a concert and was surprised they caught it for the third time now. Stop the foolishness or except the sickness.
 
Band mate tested positive two days after our last show. Another guy and I had both been feeling lousy, so the whole band swabbed and the rest of us were negative. It was an unpleasant flashback experience sticking that thing in my nose (and rotating 3-5 times...)
