CoronaCaster - A Build Thread

The only other thing I've dyed was my amp. I think I might agree with you.

The artist oils would probably be easier to mix and see the resulting color before it hits the guitar, but that's not to say you couldn't play with dyes once it hits the wood.

If I had to do it over again with dye, I'd keep the filling process the same but just use a leather or oil based dye.

Looking good

Following your progress I'm not sure I see any advantages to artist oils & japan drier over the regular dyes and stains in either process or end results. Thoughts?

Actually the more I think about it... it's just finding the right color. Red was tough to work with and the drying time was painful and I bet I can get a really nice cherry look just using dyes.

Another ding-dang sand through but I did level sand it up to 5000 grit.

The red is drying but we're like full blown shiny. I had to dremel out the humbucker pocket to get the pick up to drop in... We're hella close.

Took her in for a setup and it's fretting out on the first fret with the bridge maxed out. We'll have to make the neck pocket deeper.

Sounds more like an angle issue than a depth issue.

Got any scrap maple or super dense card stock?

The Sunflower Guitar is done.

Take a look. She rocks. The pick ups sound great and the Gunstreet 5 way is really cool too.

P1 - Neck
P2 - Neck & Bridge
P3 - Bridge
P4- Out of Phase - Make the neck and bridge REALLY hot... like buzz when you touch the casing
P5 - PAF sound

This'll be the number 1 for a while.

Thanks for looking.
