So, I went back to the carpooler becasue it was just so darned expensive to ride alone.
So, her other daughter, Jessie, is getting married this year. She and her fiance came in to visit this wknd so Jess could go to Charleston to look at wedding dresses.
Her dad and fiance didn't want to go dress shopping, so they decided they would stay at the house and do some target practice out back.
The fiance later meets the women in town for dinner, when asked why Dad hasn't joined him he responds, "Um, he's resting."
Upon further questioning, he responds, "Well, I left him on the couch. He said he was fine.":rolleyes:
It turns out that during the day, they decided to sight in an old .22 that Dad had lying around, so they tacked a target up to an old wooden post - a frozen post. Fiance sights in and takes aim and shoots the target and then he hears a loud thump and a woof from Dad standing beside him.
"What was that?", says Fiance.
"That was me getting shot!" says Dad.
Apparently, the bullet went through the target, and hit the frozen pole and ricocheted into Dad's chest. The bullet went through his Carharts and thumped him in the chest leaving a pretty good welt.
So I now know three people who have been shot in the last six months.
