I keep rearrangin' and consolidatin'. I am gonna sell that Reverend Descent and I just sold my Mike McCready Strat (I couldn't get over the relic look) and have someone interested in my Country Gentleman... and going to be listing eight more guitars over the next few weeks...
...but I still can't help myself I guess because when I was looking around Austin Vintage Guitars' website I found this 2019 American Professional Strat for $1,099. PLUS i had a $200 credit from when I traded them some gear back in December. So I went to check it out, it is in like new condition. It makes a nice companion to that AmPro Tele I got a few weeks ago and now I don't have to take any necks off to adjust my truss rod.
Once I got it strung up and had the trem floated the way I liked, it wouldn't stay in tune with trem use. It was binding at the nut a little bit. I very slightly widened the nut slots, I mean just barely took a little off and hopefully smoothed the bottoms of the slots, and put in some nut sauce and now it stays in tune great even if I go nuts on the trem. It's a great weight for a Strat at 7 lbs 10 oz and it plays really smooth, and the VMOD pickups aren't that bad (I might get something else at some point but they are good for now).
Then I noticed... this comes stock with the staggered tuners where E and A posts are taller than DGBe. But looking at the headstock I noticed that the two tallest posts were on low E and high e. That's not right! Soo here is what I think happened. Whoever had this guitar before me also noticed it wasn't staying in tune, but he assumed it was the tuners. So he got some of those Fender locking tuners and installed them, and it still wouldn't stay in tune. So he got frustrated, took the locking tuners off, put the stock tuners back on (not paying attention to the staggering), and sold it. His loss!
Anyways there you go... I just thought you would like to know all of this information...
