Can you take a pic of the error you get when it comes up as blocked? I miiiiiiiiight be able to help.

Time to go threaten HR!

IT guy doesn't care where you go online as long as it doesn't present a security threat. He/she is just doing the HR departments bidding when it comes to blocking sites to prevent slacking off or other reasons.

Or they changed which web filter they use and the new web filter filters based on site classifications.

Even the same provider may reclassify sites periodically.

Sure, your IT folks can validate if the site is correctly classified and blocked or not blocked per your company's policy (and correct any errors with that) but the authors/owners of that policy in many companies is your HR department....Which is also something to keep in mind if you want to try to bypass your company's filtering.
