Back from the horrors of house shopping.

4 bedroom 3 bath on 9200 sq ft. Gigantic by Orange standards and suspiciously under priced at $349,900

The house actually had 2 kitchens, 5 rooms (including a converted garage) for bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (one in the garage) a pool and 2 buildings in the back yard made of cinderblock. And an abandoned Honda motorcycle....we spoke to the next door neighbor who is also a real estate agent and she told us that 4 families had lived there and one of the block houses in the back was where one of the kids would play drums at 3am. She was thinking of buying it and knocking the house down

The place was filthy and both kitchens need to be torn out and redone. If I had an extra $100k lying around to remodel it might be nice to have that much property that close to the store but if I had teh extra $100k I'd probably be looking at nicer houses.

I'm getting burned out on this shit....

That's exactly what I was thinking. I mean, a 9200 sq. ft. house is huge my any normal standard.

A 9200 sq. ft. lot, not so much.

We have a few that are getting into that range but that's because

1) they're brand new and HUGE and

2) our town is quickly becoming a bedroom community for Toronto

It wouldn't go quite that far here, but it would sure get you a nice pad.

I think $350 is about what my parents paid for their trendy condo in a highrise in downtown columbus (It's only 1200 sq ft)

They sold their 3,000 sqft home in an upper middle class suburban neigborhood for like $270.


But, of course, it's snowing outside right now and the ocean is 500 miles away. cry1

The houses I am looking at are all in the mid $300k's and are not in very great shape for the most part.  The median home price this month fell to $417,000...
