That's what the person who showed this to me said as well! I felt embarrased for him at first and then you see how cocky he is and it makes you dislike him even more.

I have attended church for a good number of years and have had to listen to multiple soloists who were pretty bad. We had one lady at a church I used to attend who would regularly do solos for awhile. She had a degree in voice and many years of subsequent vocal training. She could nail every note dead on - no pitch problems what so ever. But her tone - well - something between fingernails on a chalkboard and a cat getting it's tail stomped on. God awful tone. I used to find an excuse to leave the room when she was singing. Finally they got a music director who was not tone deaf and had a pair and she was no longer soloing. Bad singing is bad singing, church or no church. Sing to yourself in the car and in the shower.

On the other side - some of the best singing I have ever heard has taken place in a church context as well...just to get a bit of balance in there.
